Çalışmada 200 idrar örneğinde E. coli’ye özgü yccT geni ve blaTEM ve blaCTX-M genlerini saptayan, 3 saatte sonuç veren bir “real-time” PCR yöntemiyle (“amoxicillin-susceptible” Escherichia coli, ASEC testi) kültür ve antibiyogramı karşılaştırılmış. Testin pozitif kestirim değeri (%93) ve özgüllüğü (%97.8) yüksek bulunmuş. Yazarlar bu hızlı testin komplike olmayan pyelonefritin ampirik tedavisinde dar spektrumlu ilaç kullanımına olanak sağlayabileceğini belirtiyor.
